PHRE 3043 – Functional Movement

Students will discover how to design exercise programs for improving a client’s aerobic and anaerobic capacity. In addition, students will be introduced to the fundamental concepts in movement screening, vocational fitness testing (e.g. police and paramedic), circuit training, and instability training.

Description:
  1. Start with feet shoulder width apart.
  2. Begin with a countermovement (quarter squat and arm swing backwards)
  3. Explosively jump forwards as far as possible with both feet. Use the arms to assist with the jump.
  4. Land in the starting position and repeat jump. Allow complete rest between repetitions.
    • Advanced variation: progress to multiple jumps (3-5 jumps) without a pause between jumps.
